Dunite is an ultrabasic rock of the peridotite group containing 90% or more of olivine, the 10% possibly remaining consists of pyroxenes (ortho and clino), spinel (chromite) and sometimes amphibole, biotite and garnet. Dunites take their name from Mount Dun, New Zealand.
