Lherzolite : definition
A lherzolite is a rock from the pyroxene peridotite family, containing between 40 and 90% of olivine, clinopyroxenes (diopside, hedenbergite, augite), and various accessory minerals (hornblende, garnet, spinel, etc...). Spinel lherzolites contain appreciable amounts of spinel (usually picotite), garnet lherzolites 1 to 20% of this mineral.
