The mechanical twinning or also called the deformation twinning, is a mechanical deformation of the crystal lattice of a mineral (stibnite is the most frequent example) which results in a new position of part of this lattice by relative to the original orientation. Although frequently used in this case, the term "twinning" is inappropriate here.
