What does oolitic mean in geology ?
Oolitic : definition
This term refers to mineral aggregates with concentric structures forming spheres with a diameter of 0.5 to 2 mm : oolites (or oolithes). These are usually calcareous (oolitic limestone), sometimes ferruginous. In this second case, they can gather in significant iron concentrations which can constitute deposits (the minette of Lorraine is an oolitic iron ore).
