What is a pyroxenolite in geology ?
Pyroxenolite : definition
A pyroxenolite is a coarse-grained plutonic magmatic rock, black in color, composed mainly of pyroxene, with olivine, garnet, spinel and/or amphibole as accessory minerals. The varieties are named according to the nature of the pyroxene present. These rocks are associated with peridotites and certain gabbros and are sometimes called "pyroxenite", a term normally reserved for metamorphic rocks.
