What is a rock in geology ?
Rock : definition
A rock is an earthly constituent material, formed by the assembly of minerals and presenting a certain number of characteristics of homogeneity, resistance, hardness, and composition, etc...
The classification of rocks is complex. They are divided into three main groups : magmatic (formed by the crystallization of a magma), metamorphic (due to recrystallizations and mineral neoformations (following an increase in pressure and temperature), and sedimentary (resulting from accumulation of fragments or precipitation of dissolved salts from solutions).
