Adamantine is an adjective derived from the word diamond to designate minerals that have an exceptional luster similar to that of diamonds.
The adamantine luster is that of minerals (or gemstones) with a high refractive index, between 1.9 and 2.6 such as cerussite (photo on the right), anglesite and of course diamond.
