PYROXFERROITE
Class : Silicates
Subclass : Inosilicates
Crystal system : Triclinic
Chemistry : (Fe,Mn,Ca)SiO3
Rarity : Very rare
Pyroxferroite is a pyroxenoid which forms a series with pyroxmangite. It has an unusual characteristic : it is one of the extremely rare minerals to have been discovered in microgabbros samples brought back from the Moon by the Apollo XI mission. Its name is formed by the contraction of pyroxmangite and the English word ferrous, meaning that it is a ferrous equivalent of pyroxmangite. Pyroxferroite is colorless to yellow and forms small grains.
