What is a dimorph in mineralogy ?
Dimorphic : definition
In mineralogy, dimorphs are minerals with the same chemical composition but with different crystalline structures (graphite and diamond, calcite and aragonite for example). When more than 2 minerals are concerned, we speak of polymorphs : andalusite - sillimanite - kyanite or quartz - cristobalite - tridymite are thus polymorphs.
